Cheese Poetry - Compliments of Ken Cashman

Say Cheese

Whenever I pose for a picture
I start to grow weak in the knees;
I struggle awhile
Unable to smile
Till somebody hollers "Say Cheese"

Photographers love this expression
Its usefulness never wears thin;
For when you say "Cheese"
What everyone sees
Is someone who's wearing a grin.

But smiling is hard in September
The summer's officially done.
Although there are chores
To do out of doors,
There's seldom a chance to have fun.

And so we devised a solution--
A festival here in Monroe
That's held on the street
With plenty to eat
For all of the people who go.

And if you are able to join us,
You'll find that we're anxious to please
And ready to place
A smile on your face
As quickly as if you said "Cheese"

May the Cheese be With You

Last year I attended the "Night on the Green";
I had lots of cheese, which has been my routine.
Each bit was delicious, though hard to define--
The flavor enhanced by the presence of wine.
The taste kept repeating without a respite;
The cheese would be with me all day and all night.

Now Cheese makerFrey, of whom all should be fond,
Created Velveeta right next to our pond.
And since its acceptance was destined to last.
Our village established an annual blast!
The cheese had been with him (our thanks never cease)
Or else we'd be famous for nothing but geese.

Now parents, remember to think once or twice
On what I consider importnant advice.
You shouldn't disparage, discourage, or sneeze
At children whose goal is the making of cheese.
The job may be smelly but nobody laughed
At people like Borden or young Mr. Kraft.
The cheese had been with them and thanks to their skills
They also were blessed with a few dollar bills.

So here is the moral; you've heard it before--
We never can tell what the fates have in store.
But one thing is certain, we want you to know,
The cheese will be with you this year in Monroe...

The above poem seems to say it all; so don't forget to come to the Cheese Festival this year!
